Today we honor those who have served and continue to serve in our armed services to protect, preserve and defend our nation.
The sacrifices our service men and women and their families make year-round should never be taken for granted nor forgotten. Our nation remains the greatest on earth, but the only way to keep it that way is to have brave men and women willing to serve and fight for our freedom.
As one of the most special and sacred days for our country, we need to show our gratitude by thanking and honoring our military personnel.
Here are some suggested ways to thank a veteran:
- Raise our nation’s flag in appreciation of their sacrifices and service.
- Take a care-package to a home-bound Veteran.
- Visit a veteran’s assisted living or nursing home in your community.
- Take a veteran to lunch or invite them over for a meal.
- Express thanks to someone in uniform or is wearing an Armed Services cap.
Ronald Reagan once said: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same. “
Wayne Hage used to say: “You only have the rights you’re willing to defend.”
On this Veteran’s Day, thank those who joined our Armed Services to willingly defend our freedoms so that Americans can live and prosper in peace.
