Perry Amendment Passes
The “Fix Our Forest Act” has passed the House chamber with the amendment that stripped out the natural asset language. The vote was 279-141.
This is a great victory for our land and liberty!
Last night, we sent out an urgent alert explaining why the Perry Amendment needed to be adopted in order to prevent the bill from becoming a tool environmentalists could use to monetize and own natural processes. You answered the call, and so did our leaders.
Thank you to Representative Scott Perry (R-PA) who stepped up and offered the amendment protecting property rights. Thank you to Representative Harriet Hageman (R-WY) and her staff who worked closely with leadership to help get the amendment passed. And thank you to the bill sponsor, Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-AK), who supported the amendment.
Finally, thank you to everyone who called, texted and emailed their Members to ask them to support the Perry Amendment.
Today is another great victory for property rights.
The bill now moves to the Senate chamber for consideration. We will need to watch the discussions as we can count on the environmentalists working hard to get this language back into the bill.
But today we celebrate.
We are a step closer to cutting more timber, reducing wildfire threats, and giving our foresters more tools to properly manage the lands.
