Interior Department Seeks Public Input on Repealing Public Lands and Natural Resources Rules

by | May 27, 2025 | 30x30, Liberty Matters | 0 comments

The Department of Interior (DOI) announced on May 16, they are asking for public comments to “identify outdated, overly complex or burdensome regulations.”

It’s all a part of President Trump’s government-wide deregulatory initiative stemming from  Executive Order 14154 issued on his first day in office directing agencies to develop and implement plans to suspend, revise or rescind regulations deemed unduly burdensome.

DOI then issued Secretary’s Order No. 3418 directing all Assistant Secretaries to begin immediate reviews and submit action plans for compliance.

They are now asking the public to submit comments and have created a new email address – Interior.RegulatoryInfo@doi.gov – for individuals, businesses and organizations to send their recommendations.

The comment period will initially be open for 30 days, but DOI will continue to accept input past the 30-day period on an on-going basis.
