Local officials in rural Texas are raising new questions about massive proposed transmission lines intended to move power to the Permian Basin, with concerns ranging from impacts on the local water supply to ESG-driven energy planning. During a contentious regional hearing, American Stewards of Liberty executive director Margaret Byfield pressed Oncor representatives about whether environmental and emissions-reduction goals were a driving force behind the multi-billion-dollar project, while local officials criticized what they described as a top-down approval process with insufficient public input.
