Congress is using the appropriations process to stop the 30×30 agenda by defunding specific administrative actions that implement the land grab.
On July 9, 2024, the full House Appropriations Committee, chaired by Rep. Tom Cole (R-Ok), approved the Interior and Environment Subcommittee Fiscal Year 2025 Appropriations Act on a straight party-line vote 29-25.
American Stewards of Liberty (ASL) would like to thank several House members for their efforts to include extremely important amendments to the Interior and Environment Subcommittee markup that push back the 30×30 agenda
These members include Interior and Environment Subcommittee Chairman Mike Simpson (R-ID) and his staff for their hard work drafting this Act, Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole (R-OK), Representatives Michael Cloud (R-TX), Jake LaTurner (R-KS), Ron Estes (R-KS), Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY), and Western Caucus Chairman Dan Newhouse (R-WA). There were many other key Members that had a hand in ensuring these provisions were included. We thank all of them for their commitment to their constituents and the industries that produce energy and agricultural products for our nation.
Some of these amendments are:
- Defunding the Endangered Species Listings of the Lesser Prairie-Chicken, Northern Long-Eared Bat, Dunes Sagebrush lizard, Gray Wolf, Wolverine, North Cascades Ecosystem Grizzly Bear, and the Bitterroot Ecosystem Grizzly Bear;
- Defunding ESA rules impacting fish legally held in captivity;
- Defunding the Bureau of Land Management’s Conservation and Landscape Health rule published in the Federal Register on May 9, 2024 (89 Fed. Reg 40308) to ensure continued access to public lands for grazing, recreation, and energy development;
- Stopping the Lock-up of our Mineral Resources and Rejecting Eight Climate Change Executive Orders;
- Defunding the Environmental Protection Agencies Proposed Clean Water Act Effluent Limitation rule, which would harm local meat processors;
- Stops the Administration from developing or implementing guidance related to the valuation of ecosystem and environmental services and natural assets;
- Defunding the US Forest Service Proposed Old Growth National Plan Amendment;
- Requires Management of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument to continue under the 2020 Plan, Not Biden’s Expanded Proclamation;
- Defunds EPA’s Reconsideration of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards for Particulate Matter;
- And, Defunds the Department of Interior “Ecogrief” counseling sessions and workshops plus many more great provisions.
The next step is for this bill to pass out of the Rules Committee where it will then be scheduled for a House floor vote. If all these provisions remain in the final passed bill, it will be up to the Senate to protect the provisions that stop key 30×30 agency actions.
