Biden-Harris Lock-Up Alaska Lands To Prevent “Climate Change”

by | Sep 14, 2023 | 30x30, Liberty Matters | 0 comments

On September 6, 2023, the Biden administration announced it was cancelling oil and gas leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and proposing new protections in the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska, further destroying American energy and our independence from foreign oil imports.

This part of Biden’s climate agenda is being used to increase the cost of gasoline and diesel to force Americans to buy electric vehicles.  In addition, to the 13 million acres in the National Petroleum Reserve, he is also withdrawing 2.8 million acres of the Beaufort Sea, “ensuring the entire United States Arctic Ocean is off limits to new oil and gas leasing.”

According to the U.S. Department of the Interior’s press release, their “bold action (is) to protect the Arctic region (and) build on President Biden’s historic conservation and climate agenda (protecting 30% of our lands and oceans by 2030), which already includes protecting more than 21 million acres of public lands and waters across the nation, and securing the Inflation Reduction Act, the largest investment in climate action in history.”

These actions are being used to cancel leases issued during the Trump administration that would have led to more discoveries and production securing our nation’s prosperity and future.  But apparently, the climate is our number one “existential” threat to our nation and all mankind and must be dealt with immediately before we melt all the ice in the Arctic.

This follows Biden’s decision (reported in Liberty Matters) last month to withdraw nearly one million acres of uranium-rich land outside the Grand Canyons National Park from development.  Uranium, like the production of oil and gas, is a key element to future electric needs, making it obvious that this administration is doing all it can to destroy our nation’s well-being and future security.

The American oil and gas industry has safely produced nearly 18 billion barrels of oil since production began in Alaska at Prudhoe Bay in 1977.  This action is the final straw that will destroy the Alaskan oil and gas industry, take away thousands of jobs and ruin not only the lives of Alaska’s citizens and economy, but our entire nation’s economy.

The press release also states that “the Secretary of the Interior has the authority to cancel or suspend oil and gas leases issued in violation of a statue or regulation.”  They are claiming the lease sale issued by the Trump administration was flawed because of legal deficiencies including “insufficient analysis under the National Environmental Policy Act by failing to analyze …reasonable alternatives and properly quantify downstream greenhouse gas emissions…”

The president of the Wilderness Society said, “It is nearly impossible to overstate the importance of today’s announcements for Arctic conservation.”  “Once again, the Arctic Refuge is free of oil leases. Our climate is a bit safer and there is renewed hope for permanently protecting one of the last great wild landscapes in America.”

The chorus being sung from the President down to environmental groups is consistent, proving everything about this climate agenda is choreographed as a means to bring our nation to its collective knees and no longer be the superpower we were just two years ago under Trump’s presidency.

(While this is “old news” in essence, it shows this agenda is extensive and well thought out.)
